Wei Gao
I grew up in Shenzhen, China, a big
metropolis next to HongKong. Currently in the 4th year of MArch program. I work
as a project lead at Linea 5, a 28 people firm that specializes in health care
and lab design. The Huxtable Fellowship provides the opportunity for me to branch
out of the field of hospital and laboratory, and work on projects that allow
more creative freedom.
Alinsan Esteves
I was born and raised in Puerto Rico until 14 years old. I am currently in my third year of the B.Arch curriculum. During the past two years I have had experience interning at a design firm as well as on the client side of things at DCAMM, both invaluable experiences. I just got hired with a developer in their architectural team. I look forward to sharing some of my experience with other students and in the process gain some new experience as well!
Jaime Bustos de Haro
I
was raised in Mexico in small little town called Villegas of about 500 people
or less. By age 11 my father had acquired permanent residency for the family –
for his children, including myself, to
pursue higher education in the United States of America – the land of
opportunity. While in high school, I began to work as an architectural drafter
for Watson & Henry Associates, a based Historic Preservation Firm, there I
assisted the firm by doing field site documentation and prepared concept phase
to construction drawings. Later, started architect school at Boston
Architectural College, now on my 5th year, the school has allowed me
to engage theoretical work as well as practical and the opportunity to study
abroad. And now, I am very proud at earning the honor of being one of Huxtable
Fellows. I am very excited to being part of a larger community here in Boston –
to be working with students, school staff and the professionals in the field to not necessarily producing the perfect work
but a learning experience where everyone will gain insight to things we never
imagined could exist through communication, collaboration and time-management.
Johnny Osband
I hail from Cambridge, MA. A 5th year BArch candidate at the BAC with a background in the arts, I am also employed part-time by a window restoration company, and I am self-employed as an independent architectural draftsman and designer. My excitement to be a Huxtable Fellow this year is twofold: first, I'm pleased to have been awarded a position in Ada Louise Huxtable's name and what she stands for in the architecture community: rigor, high standards, and preservation as well as progression. Second, I am very excited to have the opportunities to mentor and be mentored in kind, because this is such an important and lovable aspect of the professional architecture community.
Daliana Zapata-Arroyo
Daliana
Zapata Arroyo from La Parguera, Puerto Rico is in the MARCH program since
August 2011. She has a background in Architecture, Business and Construction
Management. After incorporating her own business and working in
Washington DC, where she had the Federal Government as a client, she decided to
join the Boston Architectural College and pursue her passion. Her interest in
humanitarian architecture and community engagement design moved her to apply
for the Ada Louise Huxtable Fellowship. Currently she is the Project Manager for
the Makers Space with the Possible Project, a Gateway Initiative Project. She
is very excited and honored to be a Huxtable Fellow, this platform will help
her to encourage, mentor and guide students in the early stage of their design
career. Inspired by her hometown and childhood, her dream is to create her own
NGO and help through design disadvantage communities in Latin America and the
Caribbean.
Anastasia LyonsAnastasia is a candidate for a
Bachelors in Design Studies concentrating in History, Theory & Criticism.
She is drawn to the challenge of tackling the broader, more complex issues
pertaining to the contemporary field of design and to design education. She has
a background in art history as well as film and photography. Since coming to
the BAC she has worked on several Gateway Projects, and has found them to be a
great experience. In her free time she enjoys writing and reading about art and
architecture.
